90-Second Tools to Manage Transition

Welcome to the first installment of 90-Second Tools to Manage Transition

We’ll kick off this three-part series by identifying the things we can control about how a transition impacts us.

But first, a quick recap:

  • Our brains are hardwired for fight or flight when things get tumultuous.

  • This was perfect when we were in constant danger in prehistoric times.

  • We now need resilience, agility, and innovation to survive current threats.

  • Our brains need a bit of coaching to do that when times are tough. See our tools for those times: Reset & Rebalance Blog

Change vs. Transition

Why does this matter?

We can influence the benefits and costs changes create.

Practical Application: Shift your focus from Change to Transition

Step 1: Identify where you are on the change threshold.

Step 2: Distinguish between change and transition.

  • Is this happening around me or inside of me?

  • What part of this can I control?

Step 3: Work to let go of the parts you can’t control.

Step 4: Stay tuned for tools on working with the internal transition.
